About CMAU

The Carbon Markets Association of Uganda (CMAU) is a pioneering organization dedicated to advancing carbon market activities in Uganda. As a collective body of industry leaders, policymakers, project developers, and other stakeholders, CMAU aims to foster a robust and sustainable carbon market ecosystem in the country. We aim to facilitate the development, trade, and utilization of carbon credits, driving Uganda towards a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.

Key objectives of CMAU

Policy Development

Engage with government agencies, policymakers, and international bodies to advocate for effective carbon credit and climate change policies. CMAU works to create a regulatory framework that supports carbon market activities and encourages sustainable development.

Capacity Building

Enhance the technical and managerial skills of our members through comprehensive training programs, workshops, and access to resources. We aim to develop local expertise in carbon project development, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV), ensuring compliance with international standards.

Access to Finance

Act as a bridge between members and potential investors, funding opportunities, and financial instruments. CMAU facilitates investor forums, provides information on funding mechanisms, and supports members in preparing project proposals that meet investor criteria.

Innovation and Technological Advancement

Promote adoption and development of innovative technologies and methodologies that enhance carbon market operations. We support research and development, facilitate technology transfer, and encourage the use of cutting-edge solutions to effectively address climate change challanges.
